Police blotter

VANDALIA (NOV. 19) – Police were called to a local business on a report of a possible burglary in progress. The manager reported he entered the building, heard a noise in the freezer and found lights on that he had not left on earlier. Believing an intruder was inside, the manager left the building and called police. Police came to check the building, including having a K9 respond from Huber Heights. A search of the business found no one was inside, and nothing had been disturbed.

VANDALIA (NOV. 20) – A man told police a woman he knows stole his handgun and his other property from his room at the Knights Inn while he was gone for a time with another female.

ENGLEWOOD (NOV. 22) – A woman who had been banned from being in a Speedway station in June was again in the business. She left after police were notified and was found walking along Taywood Road. When asked why she had been back in the business, the woman said she forgot she had been trespassed from the property. She was cited for violating the ban and ordered to appear in court.

TIPP CITY (DEC. 2) – A man stopped for jaywalking across West Main Street around 1 a.m. ended up arrested on a warrant from the Miami County Municipal Court for failure to appear for a hearing.

MONROE TWP., Miami County (DEC. 4) – A deputy attending a township trustees meeting checked on complaints about too many vehicles parked at a property in the township. He reported finding several vehicles in the driveway and one sitting on large logs in the yard. The deputy said he was working to contact those living at the property to explain the junk vehicle laws to them.

NEWTON TWP., Miami County (DEC. 4) – A deputy on patrol stopped after seeing a truck partially in the road with its hazard lights operational. The driver said he was waiting for friends to arrive from Celina to help. The deputy checked the driver’s license and found it was suspended. He was cited for driving with a suspended license and the vehicle was moved from the road until help arrived.
