PLEASANT HILL (JAN. 18) – A village resident told Miami County sheriff’s deputies two rings apparently were taken from her home in late December. The woman said she took the rings off when baking on Dec. 25 and placed them on a kitchen shelf. When she went to retrieve them Dec. 27, the rings were gone. She said she didn’t report the missing rings immediately because she wanted to search the house and ask family members who had been there.

VANDALA (JAN. 8) – Police were called to the AmVets on South Brown School Road on a report of a man who had been asked to leave the bar but returned to drive around the parking lot. Police found the man’s truck in the driving through the lot and eventually stopped it. The driver was found to be intoxicated and two have two knives with him. He was charged with drunk driving and released to a relative. He also was trespassed from the business.

VANDALIA (JAN. 7) – A woman was charged with misdemeanor telecommunications harassment after leaving a threatening message on her mother’s voicemail. The mother told police she received the threatening call while at the police department on another incident. The daughter threatened to beat the mother and put her in the hospital, according to the police report. The daughter declined to talk to police about the incident. She received a summons to appear in Vandalia Municipal Court.

ENGLEWOOD (JAN. 14) – A man reported his son came home high and assaulted him around 10 p.m. Police found the son in a bedroom on the floor. He was treated by medics and taken to the hospital where he was found to have a variety of illegal drugs in this system, police reported. The father, who was struck in the head and thrown into a cabinet, declined medical treatment. The son was charged with domestic violence and jailed.
