Police find gloves used by Family Dollar robber

UPDATE @ 3 p.m. July 18

According to the Dayton police report, the robber was described as 6 feet and 160 to 170 pounds. He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt tied around his head with a towel covering his face, according to the report.

Police said his pants were black with white stripes going down the side and he was wearing plastic gloves as well as black tennis shoes.

Officers reviewed the video of the crime captured on the store’s security camera.

Police said the robber approached the cash register, drew a black handgun and grabbed a handful of money before running out of the store.

Officers found clear plastic gloves in a trashcan on East Helena Avenue that the robber discarded while running away.

Police are looking for a gunman tonight who robbed a Family Dollar store.

The suspect had a white towel over his face around 7 p.m. when he held up the store at 1130 N. Main St.

The 6-foot tall robber carrying a gun had a slender build and was wearing a blue jacket and black pants with white stripes. He fled the scene toward Helena Street, according to the Miami Valley Dispatch Center.
