Police: Suspect attempted to crush drugs under foot

Dayton police say a man who was under arrest dropped a receipt on the ground in an attempt to destroy drug evidence.

According to a police report, 29-year-old Gabriel Wright hid a rock of crack cocaine in that slip of paper and tried to crush it beneath his shoe.

Officers were attempting to issue Wright a ticket for drinking a beer in a Burkhardt Avenue park Saturday evening when they say he resisted and pulled the receipt from his pocket.

He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail and is facing possible charges of obstruction of official business, tampering with evidence, resisting arrest and drug possession.
