Pop bottle bomb found on UD campus

University of Dayton police will investigate who left a pop bottle bomb outside a house on campus.

The bomb was spotted by officers on regular patrol in the student neighborhood. The Dayton bomb squad responded and removed the bomb without injury to anyone or damage to any property, said Dayton police Sgt. Jason Hall.

The bomb was spotted in the front yard of a house that is not owned by the university, but is owned by a private landlord in the 200 block of Stonemill Road.

The bomb squad responded around 9:30 a.m.

Hall said they blocked the area, because the device is "explosive in nature."

He said the department will "run down every lead" to investigate who manufactured the bomb.
