An investigation revealed that Josh Dwayne Taylor, 25, of Hamilton, was involved in an altercation with his father, Scott Taylor.
Josh Taylor used a Charter Arms Undercover 38 Special revolver to shoot himself in the foot and then his father in the leg, according to the arrest report. He was arrested for having weapons while under disability, a third degree felony, due to a conviction for aggravated trafficking in drugs in Warren County.
He was arraigned Wednesday morning in Hamilton Municipal Court, and is being held in Butler County Jail on a $25,000 bond, with a preliminary hearing set for 8 a.m. Dec. 17.
Hamilton Police Officer Kristy Collins said that the investigation is still ongoing, and that there may be additional charges for Josh Taylor.
Earl Huron, who lives next door to the residence, said “you couldn’t miss it” about the police action on his street Tuesday night. “I had police in vests with guns drawn running across my lawn about 8:30….”
Neighbors said they heard as many as five rounds of gunfire Tuesday night and at least two rounds on Monday night.
“We heard gunshots on Monday night,” Huron said. “My wife heard it, but I didn’t pay much attention.”
Huron said he didn’t know the Taylors very well but said they were friendly. Monday night was the first time he had heard anything strange next door, he said.
“About eight cruisers showed up within a few seconds,” he said. “They knocked on my door, must have been looking for the right address, then kept moving to the next house.”
