Diamond R. McClanahan, 59, has pleaded not guilty to three counts of drug possession and one count each of corrupting another with drugs, drug paraphernalia and drug trafficking. A preliminary hearing is to be held today. Bond is set at $30,500.

On Feb. 17, deputies were sent to Springfield Regional Medical Center to investigate an overdose that happened the previous night in Springfield Twp.

Two witnesses told deputies a car pulled up to their driveway and their female roommate ran outside to meet the person about 10:30 on Feb. 16. About an hour later, the witnesses found the woman on the bathroom floor with a syringe next to her. She was taken to Ohio State University Medical Center.

The next day, one of the witnesses found the victim’s phone and claimed to have seen text messages from “Diamond,” according to the police incident report. According to one of the messages, “Diamond” was going to drop something off at her home and asked the victim to pay for gas. The conversation began at 10:12 p.m. and medics were called to the scene about 11:27, the report indicated.

On Feb. 19, deputies stopped McClanahan and said they found him in possession of 25 aluminum bindles with heroin inside, according to a separate police report. He was also found with another small bag of meth and two cigars containing marijuana, the report said.

In September, McClanahan was arrested in a raid on a home on Chestnut Avenue where authorities said they turned up nearly $125,000 in drugs, cash and stolen property, including one pound of fentanyl.

A grand jury indicted McClanahan on four counts of drug trafficking, aggravated possession of drugs, trafficking cocaine, possession of cocaine and illegal manufacturing of drugs.
