In addition to large amounts of heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine, hundreds of thousands of dollars were seized.
Neither the attorney general’s office nor the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office provided details of the operation, including the names of those taken into custody.
The task force consists of officers from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery County RANGE Task Force, Warren County Drug Task Force, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Department of Homeland Security, Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office, and Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.
“Seizing large amounts of money from these drug trafficking organizations directly affects their ability to continue to supply the area,” said Montgomery County Sheriff Phil Plummer. “This collaborative effort is proving to be highly effective in seizing large quantities of drugs before they impact neighborhoods in Montgomery County and surrounding areas.”
Since its inception in September, the Miami Valley Bulk Smuggling Task Force has seized 25.2 pounds of methamphetamine; 22 pounds of marijuana; 13.3 pounds of heroin; 439 grams of cocaine; and 749 illicit pills, according to the attorney general.
A total of 51 people have been arrested by the task force, which also has seized many guns.
“This is another excellent example of the type of drug offenders that can be effectively dealt with by the collaboration of multiple agencies,” said Warren County Sheriff Larry Sims.
The OOCIC was established in 1986 and assists local law enforcement in fighting organized crime and corruption.
