4 teens arrested in shooting death of Centerville teenager in Warren County

Warren County Sheriff’s investigators determined the group arrested, along with Trudics, planned to rob and kidnap someone who was lured by one of them to the 1800 block of Oregonia Road in Turtlecreek Twp. on Dec. 13.

The individual who was lured to the address was met with a baseball bat and firearm, according to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.

The individual, who also was armed with a firearm, tried to defend himself. Gunfire erupted that led to Trudics’ death and the wounding of 16-year-old Logan Dean.

The shooter has not been charged, according to the sheriff’s office.

According to court records, Dean claimed he and Trudics “had been abducted from his residence on Social Row Road.”

“(Dean) said they were knocked out and put into a car by an unknown male.  He also said the male put black ski masks over their heads,” court records show.

Court records continued with deputies saying Dean “was unable to show...any type of head injury from being knocked unconscious.”

The homeowners were not involved, sheriff’s detectives said they determined. However, their 17-year-old daughter, Kayla Carmack, is one of the four arrested.

Also arrested and charged are Dakota Cox, 18, of Kettering, and two 16-year-old Centerville boys, Jacob Hicks and Dean, who was shot during the exchange of gunfire.

Cox is in the Warren County Jail without bond awaiting arraignment this week, online jail records show.

The other teens are being detained in the Warren County Juvenile Detention Center.

The sheriff’s office has not ruled out additional charges or arrests.
