Thief rummages through unlocked cars in driveway

CLAYTON – A woman said she leaves her car unlocked in the drive way in the 6400 block of Noranda Drive because she doesn’t leave anything valuable inside.

That didn’t stop someone from opening the door and rummaging around for something of use.

Not finding anything, the would-be thief checked out the husband’s vehicle, also unlocked in the drive. He said his haste to make it home to watch a football game on television led him to leave his wallet and iPOD behind for anyone to take, which is what happened.

His lost about $150 in cash and the iPOD as well as a black backpack. His credit cards and driver’s license were spread along the floorboard.

His wife said she heard a car door slam at 2:30-3 a.m. and looked outside, but didn’t see anyone. She went back to sleep without calling police.
