Woman arrested for swapping price tags on items at Hustler

MONROE — A Trenton woman has been charged with theft for allegedly taking the price tags off cheaper items and putting them on more expensive ones at Hustler Hollywood in Monroe.

The 31-year-old woman was charged with a misdemeanor and must appear in Monroe’s Mayor’s Court, said Lt. Brian Curlis.

Police said the woman came into the store at 1038 Lebanon St. with two males and another female about 3:08 p.m. April 9, and purchased several adult toys.

At the register, an employee noticed the price tag on an item at $3.99 when it should have cost $14.99, said Police Officer Chad Caudill.

“The employee notified the customer the item was priced wrong and corrected it while still ringing the customer out,” he said.

Caudill said after the woman left the store, a Hustler manager and an employee checked the store video and determined she had removed the price tags from several items, and replaced them with cheaper ones.

Another adult toy also was found in the store with the price tag removed, Caudill said.

The woman paid with a credit card, he said.

Police were able to locate the woman after store employees identified the vehicle she was driving and her image on the video.

Monroe Detective Ken Parson said he spoke to the woman at her home and said she admitted changing the price tag.

The woman “advised that she is having financial trouble and she changed the price because the item in question is not a necessity, so she felt guilty about spending so much money,” he said.
