Workers at Clifton Mill are closely watching the weather to determine when work can move forward. .
There are still more lights to be strung for the annual Christmas lights display, which will light up Friday, Nov. 24, the day after Thanksgiving. But the final lights will be put up after the windy weekend forecast.
“All the lights were tangled and knotted,” said Jessica Noes, Clifton Mill general manager, of heavy rains in early November.
Noes said 25 percent of the lights were damaged or destroyed by the rains.
“Some of the lights are actually white tipped, and that’s where the water was rushing so fast it washed the red lacquer off of the lights,” Noes said.
Clifton Mill workers will wait to finish decorations on Santa’s workshop, the stars on the covered bridge and the miniature village.
This is the 30th anniversary for the popular holiday tradition. It will run through Dec. 31.
