Doron Silverman Conviction Overturned

A West Carrollton father who is in prison for sexually abusing his 4-year-old son has had his conviction reversed by an appeals court.

Doron Silverman was convicted of sexually abusing his son, Mikel, and was sentenced to five years in prison.

An appeals court overturned his conviction, saying statements made by the 4-year-old boy should not have been admitted into evidence at the trial because there was no finding by the court that the child was competent when the alleged statements were made.

Silverman’s son and 4-month-old daughter died in a fire that was started by the children’s mother.
