Father Of Homicide Victim Speaks Out

The father of a young Dayton man who was gunned down visited the site Thursday.

Marcus Brooks was shot multiple times outside a home on Weaver Avenue Wednesday afternoon.

His father prays no more families have to endure the pain he's feeling, and he's calling for an end to the violence.

Alvin Brooks saw his son lying lifeless on the ground.

Alvin Brooks said his son knew he was there and that at least they were together moments before the young man's death. Witnesses told him Marcus Brooks begged for his life after running, then falling, as he tried to get away from four gunmen.

Police said Marcus Brooks was shot once inside the house and then several times outside.

The four gunmen then drove away in a car.

Police said they found signs of drug use and cash inside the home.

They said about eight hours later, someone set fire to the house.

Detectives said the fire and homicide are no coincidence and that the fire was probably set to cover up evidence.

Marcus Brooks' father cannot understand the violence and wants to see it end.
