First Wayfair store in region to open for limited time

A Wayfair outlet store in Northern Kentucky is open now, but only for a limited time.

Traditionally online retailers like Wayfair have been making plans to expand into brick-and-mortar. The first 20,000-square-foot brick-and-mortar store in Florence, Kentucky, won’t open until early next year, but the company is letting shoppers in for a soft opening from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Saturday, said Wayfair spokeswoman Julie Cassetina.

The store will be in part of an existing warehouse at 5101 Renegade Way.

The popular online retailer sells furniture, bedding, decor and other home items.

The outlet store will sell closeouts and furniture that was returned but is in good condition, according to Wayfair’s website.

The previously strictly e-commerce retailer has 13.9 million active customers and more than 10,900 employees.
