Free Dental Services For Local Children

Local dentists teamed up to give every child a smile that they can be proud of.

They are providing free cleanings, fillings and other basic dental services to hundreds of children around the Miami Valley.

The group has set up shop at the Ervin J. Nutter Center.

The dentists said there are two main reasons why some children don't get dental care: their parents can't afford dental bills and their children are afraid to go.

So twenty-five local dentists and their staff members are working hard to change that. The Berry Room at the Nutter Center was transformed into a dental office.

Trezure Porter was one of the first patients. "I thought it was going to be scary, but it was laid back and relaxed," said Porter.

This week, Dr. Gordon Womack and his team expect to see between 350 and 500 children.

It was a good thing that Trezure Porter saw the dentist Tuesday. Trezure said, "When he went in, he found a baby cavity. He says he'll take it out the next time I come in."

Services are by appointment only. Call (937) 320-0650 to schedule a visit during the clinic which runs from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, February 1-5.
