Go Fund Me page started for massacre survivor

A U.S. military veteran who was shot at least five times in yesterday's mass shooting in Oregon had a Go Fund Me page setup, which has more than $312,000 as of early Friday.

Chris Mintz, a 30-year-old North Carolina native, was shot by the gunman, but was not struck in any of his vital organs. Mintz is a student at Umpqua Community College; the site of Thursday's massacre.

According to the Associated Press, Mintz was shot as he tried to stop the gunman from entering the classroom. After being shot, he told the gunman that it was his son's birthday, but the gunman shot him twice more.

Nearly 10,000 donors have participated in the fundraiser for Mintz. According to the Go Fund Me page, donations will be used to help Mintz pay for his medical and rehab expenses.
