Hamilton shooting victim dies

A 20-year-old Hamilton man died this afternoon as a result of wounds sustained from being shot last weekend, according to Hamilton police.

Bryant Lee Johnson Jr. of South Second Street was shot multiple times just before 10:52 p.m. Saturday in the 900 block of 12th Street and taken by ambulance to Fort Hamilton Hospital and later taken by medical helicopter to University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Johnson was leaving a house that the Hamilton Police Department has hit with its SWAT team twice in the last six months for drug activity, according to Police Chief Scott Scrimizzi.

“We knew that location was a problem,” Scrimizzi said. “It’s so much of a problem that it’s a high risk warrant that our SWAT officers were serving those warrants.”

No further information is available at this time, police said
