-At least three off-duty law enforcement officers were in the area at the time of the robbery/shooting. Aside from the Miami Twp. police officer, a Drug Enforcement Administration agent, two Jackson Twp. Police Department members – including the chief – were nearby.
-Four 9-1-1 calls were made. One caller reported the robbery suspect wearing a mask. Another said they saw a fleeing suspect seeking to carjack motorists. The DEA agent and a dispatcher initially reported to responding Miamisburg police that an undercover officer had been shot.

-The 17-year-old Dayton defendant was charged Tuesday with aggravated robbery with a gun specification. Because of his age and the specific charge, his case is eligible for a mandatory transfer to adult court, an option prosecutors said they would seek.
-Additional charges — including impersonating officer – are likely, according to prosecutors and investigators.
-The defendant has no juvenile court record. His mother, who said she worked for the FBI for 21 years, sought to have him released on electronic home monitoring. She said she had no idea where he got a gun.

-The defendant will remain in the Montgomery County Juvenile Detention Center. "In the juvenile court system, your son is not getting out – today, tomorrow, next week, next month," Capizzi told the mother.
-The off-duty Miami Twp. police officer involved in shooting not yet been identified.
-This is the second time since Dec. 20 a Miami Twp. police officer has been involved in a shooting.
