A Huber Heights doctor convicted in 2011 of trying to hire a hitman to kill his ex-wife is out of state prison and currently facing possible deportation, according to court records.
Shafik Ahmad was released from state prison Oct. 17 and transferred to the Butler County jail on a detainer from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, jail records say. Ahmad, 56, faces possible deportation to Pakistan.
Butler County has a contract to house ICE prisoners from across the country.
Ahmad was sentenced to prison in March 2011 on one county of conspiracy to commit murder. He was arrested in October 2009 after hiring an informant posing as a hitman to murder his ex-wife, with whom he was in a child custody battle.

Before his conviction, Ahmad’s medical license was suspended by the State Medical Board of Ohio in 2010 after he was accused of improper sexual advances by 13 former patients, some of whom had sued him in court. His license was revoked after his felony conviction in 2011, and the sexual allegations were dismissed.
Ahmad was featured in special report by the I-Team and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution about doctors accused of sexual misconduct. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s yearlong, 50-state analysis found medical boards in some states do little to inform or protect patients when doctors were found to have abused their power.
