Students get help with math from Air Force

Beavercreek students are receiving extra help in achieving mathematics success.

Late December of 2012, Beavercreek teachers Liz Driver, Leah Schiavone and Sue Hedlund came up with the idea of inviting adults from outside the school to assist 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students by tutoring them from a real world perspective on how they’re using math in the work place.

They connected with volunteers from the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) through parents of the Ferguson school PTO.

Currently, Project Success has numerous volunteers assisting approximately 20 to 30 students to focus on confidence, organization, and life long learning skills with regard to mathematics. One student, claims First Class Airman Andrey Bilokonsky, went from a D to A+.
