Biederman died Monday morning after suffering serious injuries in a bicycle accident on Sept. 14 according to the Montgomery County Coroner’s office.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Lisa, and his three children, Ellie, Brock and Carly, as well as his mother Shirley and two sisters, his obituary states.

A viewing will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at the Tobias Funeral Home, 5471 Far Hills Ave. followed by a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. with Yolandi Bresler officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Life Connections.

Superintendent Tom Henderson said he worked with Biederman in the school district for more than a decade.

“I think my colleagues and I would all agree that we have never met an individual who approached work and life with such a positive attitude,” Henderson said at the board meeting.

Washington Twp. officials were saddened to learn of Biederman’s death and released a statement paying tribute to him.

“The elected officials and staff at Washington Township extend our deepest condolences to the family of Mitch Biederman and also to his Centerville City Schools family,” the statement said. “We’ve had the opportunity to work with Mitch on a variety of projects throughout his career with the school district and we know him to be a committed professional who worked for the betterment of students and our community as a whole. We’ll always remember him for his dedication, professionalism and fun-loving nature.”

Biederman, 55, was hired as Centerville’s treasurer in 2009. He won the Auditor of State Award with Distinction last winter, and was a fitness enthusiast who biked and competed in many running races around the region, from 5Ks to marathons.
