“Back early this spring … we lost a lot of land all of a sudden,” said Dura. “All that backslope is gone; all the vegetation is gone.”
The project is in Jackson Twp. between Clayton and Venus roads.
County commissioners already approved an emergency measure to fast-track the bid process and will likely approve the project at a coming meeting.
“We weren’t anticipating doing this project in 2018, but here we are. We don’t have a choice,” Dura said.
It’s the second time this year county commissioners approved an emergency to fix damage caused by erosion. The same heavy spring rains also washed away part of Upper River Road near Miamisburg, leaving a guardrail dangling above the Great Miami River and forcing the county to close a stretch of the road.
