Plans in works to improve access near Dayton Mall

Changes to improve pedestrian access near the Dayton Mall are being drawn up.

The upgrades are part of a $1.7 million project in Miami Twp. to provide better and safer pathways, a key component of the Dayton Mall area master plan.

The enhancements would involve pedestrian routes on Lyons Road from Byers Road to Ohio 741, and on Ohio 741 north of the Lyons intersection.

Miami Twp. is in line to receive more than $1 million in federal aid to fund the project, which is not part of the mall area plan but is consistent with its objectives, officials have said.

A joint board of Miami Twp. and Miamisburg officials late last year adopted the mall area plan, which outlines changes with the potential to attract more than $200 million in investment.
