100 new homes to be built

Around 100 new homes will be built in Miami County this year, a pace county building official Bob Bowman described as “very steady.”

Bowman on Oct. 2 provided county commissioners an update on construction activity seen by the county Department of Development.

Commercial construction also is good, Bowman said. Two new schools are under construction in Piqua, where work on a third new school building will begin soon.

Permits issued in September for larger construction projects included an addition/alteration at Pioneer Electric Co-Op, Route 36, east of Piqua. The project estimated value is $2 million. A showroom addition at Troy Ford on County Road 25A between Troy and Tipp City has an estimated $1.4 million value. NANCY BOWMAN, CONTRIBUTING WRITER
