AMBER Alert in Indiana canceled, 2 children safe

The Amber Alert has been canceled and the two children are safe, police said.

No other information was available.

INITIAL REPORT:

A statewide Amber Alert was issued Saturday morning for two children believed to be in extreme danger, according to Indiana State Police.

Ayden Javier Mendez, 7, and Yulianna Rose Mendez, 3, were last seen around 1:30 a.m. in Hamlet, Indiana, which is about 140 miles north of Indianapolis.

Ayden is described as a Hispanic male, 3 feet tall, 45 pounds with brown hair and eyes. He was last seen wearing a black basketball jersey with Mexico written on it and black shorts.

Yulianna is a Hispanic female, 2-foot-6 and about 30 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a white T-shirt with colored designs on the front and turquoise shorts.

The suspect, Francisco Javier Mendez, is a 28-year-old Hispanic man, 5-foot-6, 175 pounds, black hair with brown eyes, and last seen driving a black 2013 Audi A4 with Indiana license plate number LE5262.
