Mushroom Growing Workshop Nov. 14

On Nov. 14 from 6-7:30 p.m. there will be a Mushroom Growing Workshop at Possum Creek MetroPark, 4790 Frytown Rd., Dayton.

Come learn all you need to know to get started and get hands-on experience making your own colony to take home. The lecture with kit is $25 and $10 to attend the lecture only. Be certain to note the option on your registration.

Leaf collection through Dec. 11

Dayton perfect on LGBTQ equality

For the second consecutive year, Dayton has received a perfect score on the Municipal Equality Index of policies and practices supporting equality on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.

The annual Municipal Equality Index is compiled by the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest LGBTQ advocacy organization. The 2017 index rates a total of 506 cities, based on 44 criteria.

Dayton’s perfect score reflects its anti-discrimination ordinance, inclusive employment policies, law enforcement practices, municipal services and equality leadership.

Hometown Holiday Nov. 11

The 9th annual Hometown Holiday will be held Nov. 11 at the Airway Shopping Center with Santa arriving at 4 p.m. Since this year’s celebration is also Veterans Day, the city will be kicking off the holidays honoring veterans. There will be patriotic/holiday entertainment, horse-drawn wagon rides, pictures with Santa, many local businesses will be generously giving back to the community while non-profit organizations will raise awareness/funds for their cause and much more.

RIVERSIDE

Community Focus Forward meeting Nov. 9

On Nov. 9 from 6:30-8 p.m. Riverside citizens are invited to share concerns or ask questions during a Community Focus Forward meeting at the Eintracht Club, 2707 Old Troy Pike.

These meetings will be held at relaxed and informal settings around the community. Riverside City Council members and staff members will be available to discuss issues, answer questions and provide city updates.

Completing a Focus Forward Question Card prior to or at the beginning of each meeting will help maintain equal opportunity for participation and help to effectively use meeting time.
