Buckeye Distillery is branching out with a new lineup of wines that it will unveil next weekend, on Sept. 28.

The Tipp City distillery — not to be confused (although it often is) with Dayton-based Buckeye Vodka — will introduce its new wines to the public on Saturday during the Tipp City Mum Festival, according to Buckeye Distillery founder Aaron Lee.

Lee has operated the distillery and a tasting room in Tipp City since 2012. Since its inception, Buckeye Distillery has been known for its liqueurs, which include Blackberry, Raspberry, Cherry and  Apple Pie flavors distilled to 50 proof, or 25 percent alcohol. About four years ago, the distillery added two full-strength (80 proof) vodkas, one flavored with hot peppers.

The new product line includes three wines: a Blackberry wine, a Merlot-Raspberry blend, and a Merlot-Raspberry blend that has been aged in oak barrels. All are priced at $14.95 a bottle, Lee said.

“We already make some top-shelf liqueurs, and now we want to make some top-shelf wines,” Lee said.

Buckeye Distillery is working on a web site through which Ohioans can order and arrange for shipment of the wines, Lee said. The founder said he is looking to add more wine varieties in the future.
