Buying Easter ham? Here are 2 alternatives to grocery stores

Grocery stores and specialty ham stores will do a brisk business next week selling the glorious hunks of cured pork that take center stage on many Easter dinner tables.

But we found a couple of other options for those who want to take a different approach to ham-buying.

Zinks Meats & Fine Wines at 409 Miamisburg-Centerville Road in Washington Twp. is accepting orders through the end of the day Monday, March 21 for hams that come from Schad's Old Fashioned Hickory Smoked Hams in Cincinnati. The hams come in boneless or bone-in (semi-boneless) and can be ordered at any size, according to Zinks' co-owner Melissa Metzger. For more information or to place an order, call (937) 435-4980.

And the Harrison Twp.-based Pig of the Month BBQ business has an Easter Collection that includes Honey Glazed Easter Ham as well as "Bacon Candy," thick-cut smoked bacon slices rubbed with brown sugar before cooking. Because sometimes it's not JUST about the ham.
