The damage is estimated at $1,500, according to Brooke Betit, spokeswoman for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
Clean-up efforts are far along—the fallen trees have been picked up and a temporary repair has been done on the Day Lodge, which remains fully operational. A contractor has been contacted for a full repair.
“I believe the temporary fix will be OK,” said Betit. “I don’t think there will be that much impact this weekend.”
The storms included two tornadoes touching down a total of four times in Warren, Clinton and Fayette counties. Storms left thousands without power in the area.
Runners were on the Caesar Creek trails Saturday for the Ohio Road Runners Club’s Dawg Gone Long Run. Kristy Brock of Xenia participated in the run and said the course, “notoriously hard on a good day,” ended up being more a challenge than anyone expected because of downed trees on the trail.
“It was more of an obstacle course than a trail race,” said Brock.
Race organizers changed the route in response to some of the damage, and marked the trail with safe routes over, under and around the fallen trees.
“It was a lot of fun,” said Brock. “Just a lot more interesting than I thought it would be.”
