Recommended changes include:

  • Removing references to a particular county
  • Addressing vacancies in the office of both the mayor and deputy mayor
  • Clarifying notice requirements for special meetings
  • Clarifying the use of resolutions
  • Modifying requirements for publishing ordinances
  • Eliminating the expiration of emergency ordinances
  • Replacing the term "competitive exams" for hiring with "competitive processes"
  • Establishing a new section enabling council to make non-substantive changes i.e., punctuation and/or grammar to the charter

If approved by council, the charter recommendations would be the first to go before a citizen vote for the city of Centerville since 1992.

Tonight’s meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at 100 W. Spring Valley Pike.
