Group: Centerville High School’s wind symphony

When was it? The 57-member group performed at Butler University, in Indianapolis, during the prestigious Music for All National Concert Band Festival. It was the first time the band had been invited to play at the festival. They were chosen based on a blind audition. The wind symphony was one of 16 bands invited from across the country, and the only group from Ohio.

How did it go? “It was a life changing experience for the kids and the staff,” assistant band director Josh Baker said. “They performed for a panel of some of the best music educators in the world. Afterward the kids received feedback from one of the judges at a one-hour clinic.”

What was the best part? “Being able to watch the kids perform on a national stage, and being able to be recognized for their hard work.”
