City recognized for safety practices

The city of Centerville recently received a 100 percent rating from the Miami Valley Risk Management Association following its 2012/2013 Safety Performance Evaluation Checklist assessment. It is the fifth straight year Centerville has achieved the highest rating.

MVRMA is a property and risk management pool for 20 municipalities in southwest Ohio. It annually reviews its member cities’ safety practices, including citywide training initiatives, safety investigation, and analysis measures and orientation programs for new hires.

The Centerville Police Department also was in 100 percent compliance with MVRMA’s Law Enforcement Best Practices Checklist.

Centerville was recognized by the Miami Valley Communications Council Municipal Training Academy with the 2013 Exceptional Commitment to Employee Training and Safety award.

The city also was cited for creating a positive learning environment and hosting training programs at the Centerville Police Training Center. Centerville Police Capt. Mark Casey received an exceptional instructor award for his efforts in the MTA Supervisor Training Program. STEVEN MATTHEWS
