Clark County man killed in motorcycle crash

Troopers have identified the man killed Saturday in a motorcycle crash as Jay Jenkins, 55, of Medway.

The motorcyclist crashed into a tree in the 2700 block of Medway-New Carlisle Road in Bethel Twp.

Alcohol and speed may have been factors in the crash that occurred around 9 p.m., according to a news release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Springfield Post.

Troopers say a Clark County man was not wearing a helmet when he was killed in a motorcycle crash.

Crews were dispatched to the 2700 block of Medway New Carlisle Road around 9:15 p.m. Saturday on a report of a motorcycle crashing into a tree.

Troopers say the man was traveling south when he took a curve too fast and lost control. The operator was alone and not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

CareFlight was requested to the scene but was later canceled when he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers say there is no evidence of impaired driving, but it has not been ruled out as a factor in the crash.

The man’s identity will not be released until notification of next of kin, but officials say he was a resident of Clark County.

The crash remains under investigation by the Springfield post of the Ohio Highway Patrol.
