Clayton firefighters plan events for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The city of Clayton Fire Division will host a series of fundraisers this month to benefit the Pink Ribbon Girls.

The Pink Ribbon Girls group provides healthy meals, housecleaning, rides to treatment and peer support to individuals with breast and gynecological cancers free of charge, according to its website.

Here’s a look at the fundraisers this month in the Clayton/Englewood area:

Oct. 13 — The fire department will sell T-shirts and take donations from 9 a.m. to noon at the Kroger on North Union Road. Station 84 and the pink golf cart will be in attendance.

Oct. 14 — Firefighters will host a Tutu 2-miler race with the Mantra. This will be held at Northmont High School on National Road from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Station 84 and the pink golf cart will be in attendance.

Oct. 20 — The department will sell waffles at Station 85 on Taywood Road from 8:30 a.m. until they are sold out.

Oct. 24 — Company 7 BBQ on South Main Street will sell shirts from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Oct. 27 — Buffalo Wild Wings on South Main Street will have a raffle and sell shirts from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The Pink Ribbon Girls group was created by women with breast cancer to help those who were having a tougher time and to give strength during their treatment. Pink Ribbon groups are in Ohio and the St. Louis, Missouri, area.
