“This is a conversion of a field from one that grows crops to one that grows jobs,” said Lebanon City Manager Pat Clements. “Lebanon’s historic downtown is its heart and soul, but its five industrial parks and the companies that make them up are what drive the community and contribute to the high quality of life its residents experience.”
The city has spent $1.3 million from its tax increment financing fund to construct a 1,200-foot road to extend Henkle Drive for the new facility.
“This is a great partnership with the city of Lebanon, the Warren County government and the state of Ohio,” said Bob Wilson, vice president of regional operations for FedEx Ground.
“Lebanon provided a great location,” Wilson said. “This location allows us access to two major highways and to a major hub we have in Florence (Kentucky).”
“I am so proud to be standing here today,” said Lebanon Mayor Amy Brewer. “As we take a look at the economy and all the communities vying for this business, it is a privilege to have FedEx Ground choose Lebanon.”
“I truly do think this is the best shining example of public and private partnerships in action,” said Warren County Commissioner Pat South, who added she was hopeful the FedEx facility would create more jobs by attracting other businesses to the region.
