Council on aging seeks board members

The Council on Aging of Southwestern Ohio is seeking people interested in aging issues to join its board of trustees and its advisory council.

To fill one opening on the board, the council looking for a Fairfield resident who has a background in finances, particularly as a Certified Public Accountant.

Board members set policy, provide leadership and have an opportunity to shape how our region meets the needs of its aging population. Duties include development and monitoring of COA’s strategic plan, financial oversight and advocacy.

For the advisory council, COA is seeking residents of Butler and Warren counties.

Qualified individuals include current or retired professionals in the field of aging, caregivers, and others with experience and expertise to address the needs of our aging population.

Advisory council members serve as representatives and spokespersons for the seniors of their communities. They stay abreast of issues in aging and advocate for the interests of older adults.

Members of both the board of trustees and the advisory council serve as volunteers and meet eight times a year at COA’s office in Springdale.

Incorporated in 1971, COA is a non-profit organization designated by the state of Ohio as the Area Agency on Aging for five counties in southwestern Ohio. Its mission is to enhance the lives of adults by assisting them to remain independent at home through a range of quality services.
