Paul Newman Jr. was appointed to the Greene County Development Director position during a Greene County Board of Commissioners’ meeting on Thursday.

Newman, a Dayton resident, is currently executive director of the Fairborn Area Chamber of Commerce. He will start his new job Aug. 22, and he will annually earn $67,000.

“I’m really excited and looking forward to this opportunity working with team Greene County,” Newman said. “I’m very appreciative to be here.”

Newman was selected from a pool of 41 applicants, and has more than a decade of consumer and corporate communications experience, according to his resume. His previous employment experience includes his role as the Fairborn Senior Center activities coordinator for two years where his duties included sponsorship recruitment, volunteer programs and event scheduling.

In addition to working for local government agencies, Newman has also held several positions, over a 15 year period, with the Estée Lauder Companies in New York.

“Paul brings extensive corporate and community experience to this position,” said Greene County Administrator Brandon Huddleson. “He has served in various capacities in the corporate world that gives him valuable insight as to the needs of business. His work in the Fairborn community gives him a great perspective on the needs of Greene County communities and many contacts he can leverage for the benefit of the County as a whole. He is a perfect fit for our team.”

Newman replaces the Peter Williams who resigned from the county development director position effective March 4 after working for the county almost four years. Williams accepted a position with Wright State University as the Director of Development & External Relations.

“We’re all very excited about Paul being part of the team and what he brings to the table for this organization,” said Greene County Commissioner Tom Koogler. “We’re excited about the direction we’re going to be going in with his efforts.
