Emergency crews responded and medics from neighboring jurisdictions were requested to provide mutual aid.
The highway was briefly shut down while medics attended to those injured and the wreckage was cleared.
In all there were five crashes, two involved injuries. None of those injuries were considered serious.
At 5 p.m., troopers were still clearing up two residual crashes as traffic started to speed up.
