Crews battle “suspicious” fire on Xenia Ave.

Firefighters had to work in the cold overnight to extinguish a suspicious garage fire.

Crews were dispatched around 3:30 a.m. to the 700 block of Xenia Avenue in Dayton to a fully engulfed fire in a detached garage. Officials believe this fire may have been burning for some time before a neighbor spotted the blaze according to Dayton Fire District Chief Rennes Bowers.

The fire may have compromised a nearby telephone pole and wires. Bowers says DP&L has been notified and will determine if repairs are needed to any part of the utility.

No injuries were reported in the blaze. The fire is under investigation but crews have classified the fire as suspicious.
