Multiple crews respond to house fire in Jefferson Township

UPDATE @ 5:20 a.m.:

Multiple fire crews including Dayton Fire Department, Trotwood Fire Department, Jefferson Township Fire Department and Lebanon Fire Department all responded to a house fire on Chain Avenue.

District Chief of the Dayton Fire Department Matt McClain said that the house was fully engulfed and fire was visible through the roof by the time they arrived on the scene.

McClain was unsure if the house was occupied, but they did not see anyone leave the house while they worked to contain the fire. The house was most likely vacant.

DP&L is responding to the scene to determine if the cause of the fire was electrical.
No injuries have initially been reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

INITIAL REPORT:

We are hearing reports of a large house fire in the 200 block of Chain Avenue.

Crews were dispatched at 4:21 a.m. for a working fire.

Scanner traffic indicates that mutual aid was requested.

We have a crew on the scene and are working to learn more.
