Cause of house fire in Beavercreek under investigation, deputy chief says

UPDATE @ 6:17 p.m.: The cause of the house fire in Beavercreek on Katherine Drive is under investigation, Beavercreek Twp. Fire Deputy Chief John Mercs said.

The fire appears to have started on the outside of the single-story structure and worked its way inside, extending to the attic, he said. There was significant damage to the back of the home.

Fire officials confirmed there are no injuries.

The investigation into the possible cause looks to be headed toward discarded ashes from a fire or discarded smoking materials, Deputy Chief Mercs said.

UPDATE @ 5:20 p.m.:

The house fire on Katherine Drive in Beavercreek has Dayton Xenia Road shut down in both directions until further notice.

Katherine intersects with Dayton Xenia Road.

We're hearing that firefighters have the fire under control.

INITIAL REPORT

Crews are on the scene of a house fire in the 1200 block of Katherine Drive in Beavercreek.

We’re hearing that all occupants were able to get out of the house. There are no reports of any injuries.

Fire crews were dispatched about 4:45 p.m.
