Cause, origin of house fire in Xenia remain under investigation

The cause of what started the fire at a house on Dayton Avenue in Xenia remains under investigation, said Captain Jeff Bruggeman of the Xenia Fire Department.

There were no injuries in the house fire reported in the 300 block of Dayton Avenue Friday, a Xenia firefighter said.

The residents were home at the time of the fire, but they were out of the residence when fire crews arrived. The damage was such that they had to spend the night elsewhere, the firefighter said.

Contents inside the home were damaged more than the house, said Bruggeman. The house itself had “minimal damage.”

Bruggeman said he estimated the damages to be from $20,000 to $30,000.

Firefighters and police responded around 7:20 p.m. and had closed streets at Hillcrest Avenue, Little Vine Street and North Allison Avenue.
