Darke County boy on ATV hits ditch, crashes

UPDATE @ 7:30 p.m.: The 14-year-old boy injured in the 4-wheeler crash on property in the 3600 block of Hillgrove Woodington Road hit a deep ditch on an old railroad bed and lost control of the ATV, the Darke County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

The contact with the ditch caused him to be ejected from the vehicle. He was not wearing a helmet.

His sister was able to get him onto her ATV and took him to their residence, which was near the railroad bed, and summoned help, according to the sheriff’s office.

The boy was taken to Miami Valley Hospital and his condition was said to be undetermined, the sheriff’s office said in the statement.

A 14-year-old boy has been taken to Dayton Children’s Hospital after falling off a 4-wheeler that flipped, an Ansonia assistant fire chief.

Ansonia fire/rescue personnel were dispatched to the 3900 block of Hillgrove Woodington Road about 5:20 p.m. on a report of an injury accident involving a child.

CareFlight took the child to the hospital. His condition is not available.
