Sergeant Anthony Mannino received the police department’s “Life Saving Award” for his quick actions, which were captured on his police cruiser’s dash-cam that the Naperville Police Department posted to their Facebook page.

Mannino can be seen parking his cruiser as barrier against traffic and running after the child on foot. He eventually catches up with him, picks him up and pulls him out of harm’s way.

At one point, a large truck can be seen passing within a few feet of the approximately one-year-old child at a high rate of speed.

According to the police department’s Facebook page, “the youngster escaped his mother’s watchful eye and left his house”.

The officer or the child were not hurt.
