A 40-year-old man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend was found guilty of murder Friday, according to court records.

Keason Herron, of Dayton, was also convicted of felonious assault, tampering with evidence and having weapons under disability.

In August 2017, Herron reportedly strangled 37-year-old Leanette Newton to death in his Blanche Street home.

In a 911 call, Herron said he attempted to revive her and that Newton broke into his house the night before and they got into a fight.

His trial initially was scheduled to begin April 16, but was continued until Aug. 20.

Herron is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 11 in the Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.
