According to the Bellbrook Police Department, there will be a press conference at 8 p.m. at the corner of Brookshire and Ivy Crest where the Chief of Police, Doug Doherty, will present a statement from the Betts family.
A gunman expressed interest in and in committing a mass shooting, Dayton Police Chief Richard Biehl said.

Because of his interests in mass shootings and violent ideologies the FBI will be more involved in the investigation.
Dayton police is investigating the homicide part, while the FBI’s focus is on the reasoning behind the shooting.
The investigation revealed the shooter expressed interest in violent ideologies, said FBI Special Agent in Charge Todd Wickerham, but he wouldn’t reveal specific details on those ideologies.

At this point there have not been any indications that race was a factor in the shooting, Wickerham said. There is no apparent connection to the mass shooting less than 24 hours earlier in El Paso, Texas, as well.
The FBI is also investigating if the shooter received any help or was involved in the incident and will talk to those who might have known that he was interested in committing a mass shooting.

Wickerham also said that the FBI is looking for any videos of the shooting and that people can submit the videos to the FBI website.
