Weekend gun show canceled in aftermath of shooting, organizers announce

C&E Gun Shows, Inc., headquartered in Blacksburg, Virginia, has canceled its gun show at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

Company officials issued the following statement via social media:

"Our show originally scheduled for this weekend in Dayton, Ohio has been canceled. As a company headquartered in Blacksburg, VA, we know first hand how a community must take time, come together and heal after a senseless act of violence like the one that took place in Dayton yesterday.

Nine people were killed and 37 were wounded or injured when a gunman opened fire early Sunday on East Fifth Street in the Oregon District. Dayton police fatally shot the gunman, 24-year-old Connor Betts of Bellbrook.
