The second person who died after a three-vehicle crash last Wednesday initially refused medical treatment, Trotwood police said.

Angel Childers, 39, of Dayton, died at Grandview Medical Center Friday night from the crash that occurred on Ohio 49 near Wolf Creek Pike Wednesday morning, authorities said.

“After Ms. Childers fled the scene and was later located, she refused medical treatment,” said Capt. Dan Heath with the Trotwood Police Department. “Ms. Childers was brought to the police station for questioning, when she collapsed, and it was determined that she was in distress she was removed to the hospital by paramedics.”

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office said Childers died of complications “from blunt force trauma injuries.”

Charles Jones, 39, of Dayton, was pronounced dead at the scene, Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger said.

The crash was reported on Ohio 49 north just before 6 a.m. A vehicle caught fire following the crash, and two people were reportedly trapped.

About 40 minutes later, a second crash was reported in the area on Olive Road and Wolf Creek Pike when a car ran a red light, authorities said.
