Drake’s Downtown Gym relocating in Dayton

Drake’s Downtown Gym is moving to a new location in the former Greyhound Bus Station at 111 E. Fifth St., according to owner John Drake.

Drake will lease 4,800-square-feet of the facility owned by city of Dayton, according to Mike Cashman, manager of the Dayton Convention Center. The space was the former luggage and baggage area of the bus station.

“It’s good for Mr. Drake and the city because it’s a space that has sat empty for the past five years. It creates a little revenue stream for us,” Cashman said.

Drake is moving his former gym on Fourth Street, which has been the site of several professional and amateur fights, to the new location starting today. He said it would be open to customers in 2015.
